    History of 'The Lutheran Hour'

On October 2, 1930, the first broadcast of The Lutheran Hour® radio program was aired, with Dr. Walter A. Maier as speaker. The Lutheran Laymen's League, LLL, which had formed thirteen years earlier as a financial support organization for the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, had a vision of spreading the Gospel message using the young technology of broadcast radio. For seventy-five years, the call of Christ has been carried around the world by radio waves to share the Good News.

     Pray for:
    LCMS CAMPUS MISSIONS
    - Of the 17 million students on campuses in the United States, more than 70 percent have no church affiliation.

The biennial LCMS International Student Ministry Equipping Conference will be held May 24-27, 2007, in West Lafayette, Indiana. Pray that many international student ministry workers and volunteers will attend it and be inspired and equipped to share Christ with internationals and their families.

    Pray for:
    CHILDREN'S MISSION INVOLVEMENT
Planting seeds of love for God's mission in the hearts of children today yields a lifetime of opportunities for meaningful mission involvement.

In baptism children receive God's commission to spread His Word to all who have not heard. Praise God that through baptism LCMS children have the opportunity to grow up in the church and share what they believe.

Look at the web site:  Lutheran Hour Ministries at www.LHM.org  for sites to link to including the weekly

sermon in audio (and text of same) as well as many other interesting information sites.  There are Bible studies and many other great areas to visit.

    ************

A stated mission of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and its partner affiliated churches worldwide to convert 100 Million new persons to Christianity by the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's posting, on the eve of All Saints day (Oct. 31, 1517), of the 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church at Wittenburg which started  the Reformation.

Lift up in prayer the people working to bring the Ablaze! Connection to LCMS congregations and individuals: David Vaughn, Roger Altenberger, John Palka, Cheryl Glick and Kristin Williams. Pray that God would guide them to make wise and faithful decisions as they work to launch this new mission mobilization initiative. Pray that God would lead them to faithfully work with church partners.

    Pray for:
    FAN INTO FLAME-
It is a campaign endorsed by the 2004 Missouri Synod convention to raise $100 million for missions.

The Lord has blessed our church body with many people with the capacity for significant stewardship gifts of time, ability and finances. Pray that the Spirit would move these people to joyfully provide significant resources to reach many with the Gospel worldwide.
