Sermon Text: Luke 24:31 & 32

Sermon Theme: "Opened Eyes.......Hearts Ablaze!"

On this Sunday, Oct. 12th, our congregation celebrates Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Sunday (LWML Sunday) under the theme "Opened Eyes.......Hearts Ablaze!" The source of this theme comes from the Gospel Reading selected for this day (Luke 24:13-35, but especially verses 31 & 32. In our message, we begin with the story of John Newton and how God opened his eyes and set his heart ablaze for Jesus. Then we see that God has to open our eyes also. When that is done, He can set our hearts ablaze for Jesus so that our mission becomes to open eyes around the world, starting close at home.
